Ariston RD-11 Superieur Turntable - Extras galore

Every once in a while a vintage product comes into our shop that stops us cold in our tracks. In this case it just wasn't the fact that an original RD 11 came in but it was all the goodies that came with it!

Let's take a quick look shall we? First, the table itself; fully original base (plinth), motor and sub-structure. Dust cover is near perfect. Comes with the original screw-down record clamp (that does, in all fairness, shows signs of wear). Comes with original box and some paperwork. Phono leads were upgraded many years back and are very good. Oh yeah, the original power supply is also included.

Features include pitch variable 45 & 33 1/3 RPM speeds. This table is belt drive, not direct. The tone arm has been replaced with a Mission 774 beauty (with box and goodies) and is in perfect condition. Cartridge is an Ortofon MC30 (again with box - noticing a trend here?) Under magnification stylus shows virtually no wear. To help out the cartridge is an FRT-3 Stereo Step-Up Torodial Transformer. This features PASS, 30 Ohms & 10 Ohms for switching. Oh yes, it also comes in its own box with all paperwork. Next is the spiked table base. Unknown manufacturer but it certainly looks good. (no box, what a let-down!)

Needless to say we had to try this rig out. Results: FLAWLESS! I can now fully understand why there are those that feel that Linn stole the LP 12 concept from Ariston. For the price you simply cannot find a better package!
