June 2011 Are you getting excited yet? I admit it is REALLY HARD to compete with playoff hockey and all of us here are rooting for the Canucks so keep your fingers crossed, raise the flag and join the fun as we hopefully witness history in the making! As for the 'copyright' rule regarding cheering our team on? Uh, no.... GO CANUCKS GO!
To show our support for the Vancouver Canucks during the Stanley Cup playoffs we will be donating $1.00 from every CD, record, reel to reel, 8-track cassette or record cleaner we sell during the month of June to Canuck Place. Canuck Place Children's Hospice provides specialized pediatric palliative care for children living with a life-threatening illness and support for their families throughout British Columbia. For more information on this great place please click here: http://www.canuckplace.org/ ***************************************************** The 'garage sale' is looming and boy does it ever look like it is going to be incredible! As you may already know this is the 4th year we are hosting this great event and with each year, it just gets bigger and better. This year we decided to go the extra step with a media blitz that includes radio ads, internet ads and advertising through local business's to promote this event and hopefully introduce new hobbyists to participate. With respect to this event, we will also be having our store open to the public this day and will have fantastic pricing on a huge array of items including a multitude of cool items that will be for sale out the back. PLEASE NOTE that due to the sheer volume of people expected this day WE WILL NOT HAVE THE UPSTAIRS SHOWROOM OPEN - sorry. We hope you understand. From June 7th through to June 12th Rock 101, "Vancouver's Classic Rock" will be airing 40 spots advertising this event and we will be having Graham Hatch on June 12th on site as our Master of Ceremonies! There will be a ton of cool prizes to give away including: - McIntosh baseball caps and coffee mugs - Vancouver Giants team signed hockey stick - Vancouver Giants game tickets, pins and limited edition figurines - Cd's - Gift certificates And much, much more! As there WILL BE FILMING of this event, participants are encouraged to wear cool seventies garb and may be interviewed! TRAMA will be returning to rock out some classic tunes with R & R Music providing all the audio magic to insure this party is going to be top notch! Of course, what would this day be like without great food? We are proud to include Catering Visions at our event to provide mouth watering BBQ delights as well as a host of classic summer goodies! We are still looking for a few volunteers for this event so if you think you can help out please let us know! GARAGE SALE TIME!
*********************************************************** In addition, (and to keep with the theme), we will be kicking off our summer 'Garage Sale' treasure story contest! This is your chance to share your tale with others about the coolest thing you ever found at a garage / yard sale! If you have pictures to go along with your story this will get you extra bonus points! Simply submit your story before September 1st , 2011 with any pictures you have and we will announce a winner in our October write up with a web page re-printing all the winning stories. *********************************************************** We will be closing the store for the entire month of August for what we hope will be a yearly 'buying blitz'. I have already confirmed numerous places across Canada and in the United States where I will be traveling to buy cool products for our store. If you have any repairs that you need before August PLEASE let us know so we can schedule them. *********************************************************** I wanted to take a moment to thank all those that have 'liked' us on Facebook. We use our Facebook page as a way of introducing people to our store and website. In addition, we can post hundreds of pictures on our Facebook page without having to worry about 'loading down our server'. These pictures can then be viewed the world over, and offers a small glimpse into what we do here and the fun we have doing it.
